Hello there, and thanks for visiting. A brief background. I began my studies in visual art in the early 70's at Webster College, in Webster Groves, MO. I moved to Maui and Oahu and studied Horticulture and Plant Pathology at Maui Community College and the University of Hawaii in the late 70's-early 80's . I finished a Master's Degree in Environmental Biology at Hood College in the late 80's in Frederick, MD. I began working with USDA in the late 1979 and after 30 years working as a Biological Technician and Biologist with the USDA-Agricultural Research Service, I have retired and share a studio at the Griffin Art Center in Frederick, Maryland, where I continue my studies and investigations in visual art.
Modes of Visual Work My work proceeds from my life and work experiences. As I have had a varied life, and work experiences, my visual work is also not limited to one stylistic form. Briefly, those forms are; 1. Biological translation from samplings of fish, plants, or textures with Gyotaku or Frottage' printing, 2. Representational renderings from photographs of landscape or flowers, 3. Abstract non-representational paintings with oil, acrylic, or mixed media with emphasis on interplay of line, color and form.
